De Soto, WI
We left Illinois yesterday traveling the back roads the entire 174 miles of the delightful trip.
Entering into Wisconsin:
Our home for the next few days is Blackhawk COE that sits on the banks on the Mississippi. A lovely park with 5o amp electric. No water, no sewer. As with most COE parks, there are clean bathhouses and showers. However, this is the first time we've had to pay for a shower. $.50 buys you four minutes of hot water with good pressure.

There was construction on the bridge making for a very tight squeeze. Look the at RV in front of us.
We attended the United Methodist Church in New Albin, Iowa. I neglected to take a picture of the church but did take one of this sign.
Sadly this church is on hard times. There were 7 people in attendance, excluding the pastor and us. The pastor also pastors another church in nearby Lansing, Iowa. With apologies to us, his sermon today was the need for this congregation to do more than attend church. He spoke of the lack of mission and community outreach. If changes are not made, it looks like this will be yet another church to shutter its doors.
The sign coming into New Albin indicates a population of (if I remember right) 237. The Town Hall and Fire Department.
Today we took a short walk and lazed around the rest of the day. Weather is great - high 70's. But oh tomorrow, forecast is 95! Wait! Aren't we in Wisconsin? Isn't Wisconsin in the north? Isn't this September?

Maybe you'll get some of the rain and cooler temps that were in MN today.
We love staying in any COE. They are always so lovely.
I didn't like reading the news about the church. That is so sad. With the way the world is today, we need every church we have!
That's sad about the church I just retired from a large UM Church. Have fun..

That sure was a tight squeeze on that bridge. Sad about the church but it is a very small town. Hope his sermon brings in more people
We've been hating construction areas. They don't make it easy for big trucks or RVs. It is so sad that so many community churches are closing due to lack of attendance. :(
