If it ain't one thing, it's another!

Dinner at Charlie Browns. Starting on the left is my sister Debbie and then our mother celebrating her 85th. Leonard with arms folded and ever-present hat. Next to Len, our friend Richie and his wife Billie Ann. In red shirts sister-in-law Nora and then brother Norman.

Abigail at 7 months, Charlotte at 3 1/2

We had a great Friday afternoon, night and Saturday morning. We met Amy at the Goddard School on Friday and got both girls This is the first time we've had Abby for overnight. It was a treat for all of us. We then met Amy and Scott at our usual meeting point midway between our homes on Saturday at 2 to return the girls to their parents. This is the very hardest part of fulltiming, not seeing the girls as often as we would want. If things go as planned I will be flying back for a few days in March while Len works and we will both return for more than a month around June 7.

It had started to snow when we left home and it got progessively worse as we drove. By the time we got back home around 3:30 we had at least 3 inches of the white stuff. Looks like total accumulation around 5 inches.

We had made plans with my sister Debbie, brother Norm and sister-in-law Nora to take our Mom out for dinner to celebrate her 85th birthday that is on February 5. Even with the roads getting worse we decided it was a go. Our friends Billie Ann and Richie joined our group. The restaurant is about 45 miles from where we are living. It took over an hour and a half to get there. (The steaks were well worth the drive!) Some people REALLY need to stay off the road when it snows. Many times we were behind people driving 15-20 MPH. Yes, the roads were bad, but nowhere near that bad.

However, the roads are bad enough to once more delay our take off to fulltime travel. And the weather is even worse in the direction we are headed - Va and the Carolinas. So here we sit, waiting for snow and ice to melt. It is only 14 out now, expected high at 31.

To make matters even worse, before we went to dinner last night we decided to retract the 4 slides to keep snow off the slide toppers. Well, what to do you know! The slides will not retract. The dealer is closed today. One more issue to resolve. Our rig is only 11 months old. We have lived in it since purchase. The last time we retracted the slides was in September and had no problem. I have posted the problem on the Montana Owners forum. Hopefully, someone there might have a suggestion. Yea, if it's ain't one thing, it's another.

Friends at dinner and we leave Sunday

Last night friends took Len and I to dinner. On the left is John Knoop, Scott Ellliot and Leonard in his hat. On the right is Carol Asselta and our daughter Terri and son-in-law Steve. Great Italian food topped off with my absolute favorite Tiramasu.

So, I saw the infectious disease doctor last Thursday. The good news is that all my counts are in the normal range. I still tire at times but I feel oh so much better than I have for months. The even better news is I am now able to travel.

We plan on leaving Sunday January 31 headed to Livingston TX to change our residency. Then to Louisiana and beyond. I spoke to friends in Missouri and we have tentative plans to meet up with them in May. They are weekend RVers.

One fly in the ointment. The weather prediction for Friday and Saturday is chance of snow. Oh no, here we go again.

We want to spend some time with Granddaughter's Charlotte and Abby. I talked to Amy earlier today. As they are two hours away, and they have plans for Saturday already, we have to coordinate schedules within the next few days.

Also, it is Mom's 85th birthday on February 5. We, along with my sister, brother and sister-in-law, want to take her to dinner.

And we owe Terri and Steve a great dinner out as a small repayment of their 22 hour round trip to Wytheville VA on Thanksgiving Sunday helping to get our truck back home following its breakdown.

So, lots to do, little time.

Feeling alive

I could not get out of bed on Sunday. Late yesterday I felt somewhat better. Today I actually feel alive! I think I've rounded the corner. I know I have to still take it easy for a while.

Len is feeling really bored especially since I am on the mend and don't need him to do everything for me. So, he is off today looking for a part time job until we are able to take off. He is not used to sitting around and not working. For years, in addition to his regular job, he has worked part time delivering nursery stock for several nurserys in the area. He would love to pick up a few runs on those days I don't need to get blood work or see the doctor.

We were to work a NOMADS project in Pharr, Tx starting 1/30. Of course we had to cancel. What a disappointment. Our next project was to be in Arkansas City, Ks starting April 26. We got word yesterday that project is cancelled. But, they have a need for help in El Dorado Springs MO for the same time period. This works out perfectly as we had planned on going to Branson, MO after the Kansas project.

After Branson we head toward the Pittsburg PA area to attend a Montana Owners Club rally before coming right back here before our Granddaughter Abby's first birthday.

As I keep hearing, when Fulltime RVing all plans are written in Jello. I am quickly learning that lesson.

Finally can get on computer

I am feeling strong enough today to get caught up on some things on the computer. I am so far behind in our checking account. Len had been using the debit card and is not the best in relying info back to me. So, I got online to our checking account to catch up. OUCH!

I am still very weak. Saw Dr yesterday who still says it will take weeks to get my strength back. I get more blood work and see him again next week.

Time and antibiotics will get me back to almost like new. At least, that is what I am hoping for.

Still very tired

I got home from hospital Saturday night. Sunday I spent most of day in bed. Yesterday Len and I went to our vet to talk about what has occured. Len will feel better if Lucky gets his back claws removed also. So - that will happen on Friday. From what I read it is not likely he still has the virus, but Len wants to make sure no further problem.

I spent most of yesterday in bed. Today I got up, showered and finally feel well enough to get on computer for a while.

Tomorrow I get blood work done. Thursday I see the doctor.

One day at a time. I am tired.

Cat scratch fever

Guess we sure do not leave tomorrow to full time. No good deed goes unpunished. Back in Sept. I "adopted" a spray kitten. Seems I picked up Cat Scratch Fever.

I have been feeling poor for over two months. Finally it became so bad I was admitted to hospital on Tuesday. I am still here. Chills, fever, complete exhaustion, swollen lymph nodes. I will be fine they tell me.

So, our plans are again on hold. After release I need to have weekly blood work and doctor followups.

I have not had access to my computer until today. It has been feeling poor also. It is going in for an overhaul too. Talk again when both of us get well.
