Galena, Ohio
We left the Escapade yesterday morning around 7:15 to make the 7:30 appointment for the new tires for the fiver. Lovely - we arrived, they got right on it and we were on the road before 8. AND they paid us $300.00 for the old tires we had on the rig. They had told us they would buy the tires as they always need decent used trailer tires. We were surprised at how much they gave us. BEAUTIFUL!
Last night we drove as far as Effingham, IL. where we over-nighted at Wallyworld Camp.
This morning we took to the road heading northeast to our destination of Hamburg, NY which is in the Buffalo area. We've enjoyed before the Air Force Museum on Wright-Patterson AF Base. As we had plenty of time we took a detour off of I70 down to the museum where we walked around for a spell.
We planned on staying once again at a Wallyworld Camp in Columbus, OH but upon arriving found that RV'ers are not welcome to stay overnight. So down the road we went again.
We first pulled into a rest area on I71 but didn't feel comfortable opening the slides. I checked the GPS and found there was a Flying J about 3 miles ahead. Flying J it is.
We've dined at Denny's. (I think saying DINING at Denny's is pushing it). And now we are settled in for the night.
As we only have about 325 miles to go, we will probably be really close to our destination tomorrow night allowing us to arrive first thing Monday morning. We are looking forward to the NOMADS annual meeting.

I have to agree with your statement about Denny's. I have had some good things there at times though. I think it depends on the Denny's. Not one of my favorites. Travel safe.
We spent a few nights in Effingham in December 2010 during a white-out blizzard. Great little RV park; we were the only ones there and the on-site owner was so very helpful! Glad you guys are on your way to a fun gathering. Safe travels and love!
Dining at Denny's is like listening to Rap Music.
We made it to Tuscaloosa, AL on our first day of our trip back to Texas and are camped tonight at WalMart for the first time ever. Since we do not have 110V and 5er and truck are still hitched, we walked to Chili's for a typical Chili's meal and are sitting in Book-A-Million to borrow their electricity to charge phones and PC. I was able to connect to their not so free wifi, while Carol could not connect. I guess it is free for Mac's.
PS - I disconnected the cable between truck and 5er so so I am running on RV batteries only.
Travel safe - tell Jeannie and Rod Coe hello from the webmaster.
Wow, I hope we can get a good deal like that if we get new tires put on!
We'll be spending our first night in a Flying J in OH on our way out to SD. Hope it works for us!
Ha, I win. Sam said oh if they stopped in Effingham they will probably be in Buffalo today. I said I bet they'll probably stop around Columbus. Yeah we arent big Applebees fans, like any restaurant we all have different experiences. Working in a restaurant makes me a little more critical than most. They started off by giving Sam the wrong beer. They did take it back and he got water, and there was a dead fly in the water. Not real appetizing, the waitress was nice about and the manager did come over an apologize. Travel safe tomorrow and keep us posted
Donna
Looks like you'll make it on time. :)
Being from Ohio, we are sorry we didn't welcome you with open arms at our Walmart. Have no idea why so many welcome RVers and some not. Crazy!
That seems like a great deal on your old tires. We have been to the Wright Pat museum many times. It is a great place:)
Getting paid for your tires. And it sure was a nice amount too.
Stay safe
We are not fans of Denny's I loved the way you put it. thanks for keeping Kenny posted. stay safe. Angela
That was a nice surprise I'll bet, getting $300 for your old tires. Every little bit helps for sure.
Denny's seems hit and miss depending on the restaurant.
