We have today and tomorrow here in SD before we move on to a NOMADS project in Ten Sleep, WY at Circle J Ranch. The last few days have been very hot and uncomfortable causing us to laze out. But last week we did take another ride through Custer State Park.
Once more it was the land of the buffalo's,
antelopes such as these twins,
crystal clear lakes
and winding, twisting roads as seen on our GPS. Note, the dotted road is what was behind us as the GPS puts down "breadcrumbs".
Along this route were three tunnels
and a view of Mt. Rushmore in the distance.
This morning I caught up with the laundry. I don't think we will be doing much else between now and Friday morning take-off. We had thought about some grocery shopping up in Rapid City but decided to do that in Gillette, Wy. where we will be Walmart camping on Friday.
Our reservations here at Hearthland RV Park and Campground are up on Friday and we are not expected at the camp until Saturday. The drive is only about 300 miles so we will be about 1/2 way there when we reach Gillette. We are hoping the weather is such that we don't have to run the generator much. If really hot we might just to have change plans and find a campground for the night.
We know we have to stock up as the nearest Walmart to the camp is 120 miles and the closest grocery store is 40 miles. There is a convenience store and fuel station about 7 miles away. That's good because I don't want to have to travel 80 miles for a 1/2 gallon of milk or a loaf of bread!

Sounds like your next stop will be as convenient as our here at Indian Hills! We're just in the process of planning our trip back to Kansas. Maybe a stop at Heartland will be in our future.
I hope you have cool traveling weather. Even when we get rain here in NC, it doesn't really cool anything off much.
It seems like it was months ago we were in that area. But not so...just a lovely area for sure.
I just love the pictures.
Hope you hit some cooler weather.
Great photos of one of our favourite areas - sure is a lot to see in the Black Hills.
