As Sunday would be our last day camping near our grand daughters until November, Amy brought them over to the campground in Hanover, PA. Charlotte once more took a few pics.

What a treat to have lunch with them and share a few more hours before we got back on the road.
We left Codorus State park around 11:15 Monday morning. For a while it was a little hairy driving Rt 116 through Spring Grove, PA. Lots of road construction and wide loads! Leonard takes it all in stride. Me not so much.
We picked up I83 in York then 322 in Harrisburg. After stopping at a truck stop for lunch in Duncannon, we picked up Route 15 North all the way to Tioga.
We knew we were getting close when we saw this:
Our destination was a Corps of Engineer Park at Hammond Lake. Hammond Lake has 32 miles of shoreline. We arrived about 4:15, a 201 mile drive.
The campground, Ives Run, is the best we've seen. The sites are large and provided with a table and firepit. Two of the four loops have full hook ups.
From the front of our rig, through the trees and about 500 feet away we can see the lake with the swimming beach.
Directly behind us about 200 feet is a comfort station with the camp laundry. The only negative to this site (19) is the picnic table is in direct sunlight until at least 6:30 pm. Much too hot to sit out and eat. We also get no shade under the awning until early evening. But we sure are not complaining. Due to having our Federal Golden Age pass, the fee is only $16.00 a day. Well worth it.
We would have like to stayed here about two weeks. However, every weekend is booked until mid September. We were told if we want a weekend reservation, better make the call by April!
We took a drive today (Tuesday) to look at another campsite about 1 1/2 hours away. The last 10 miles to get to this campground is winding, bumpy and narrow. The last mile is a dirt road. Even at that we would have booked a reservation but due to a natural gas find it the area, there are no sites large enough for us. Most sites are taken by construction workers. That's okay - we then decided to head to New York State when we have to vacate our current site on Friday.

We had lunch at Miss Penny's Diner then headed on back to our home of wheels.

Seems like whenever we find a really great campground....the sites are booked for the weekend. Oh well, you've got the week to enjoy that beautiful campground!!
