El Reno, OK
Today's word is Integrity.
But first, we moved 196 miles from Cartwright OK to outside of El Reno at the Lucky Star Casino. It was a pleasant drive up here. We stayed here last March while catching up with my cousin Bonnie who lives over in Oklahoma City. Hope to see her again later in the week.
Gotta love this place. It is FREE camping with 50 amp, water and sewer. That's right, I said FREE. For as long as one wants to stay. Not only that, Wednesday is Senior Day so we went right in and each got our $10.00 vouchers which we will give back to them a little later when we lose it at the slots.
INTEGRITY. I am reminded of that commercial I see on TV. I think it is for an insurance company but I am not really sure. It shows people "doing the right thing". Wiping up spills they did not make, holding doors open for a person with packages, etc. etc.
We see so often today people who only look out for number one. Sometimes is seems good manners have gone the way of the dinosaur. Be it jumping in line ahead of someone who was already there, tossing trash out the car window for someone else to pick up, talking loudly on the cell phone in a public place not caring if it is annoying to everyone else around. Rudeness.
But wait! Is this the majority of the population? I hope not. I still believe most people live with integrity. They don't steal. They work hard. Most people still care and chose to go by the rules and play fair. I see this as we travel and volunteer. I am always amazed as we talk to people we meet along the way. We, too, need to chose to be polite, caring and have integrity. To live as an example to other people who might be watching. Just like the people in that insurance commercial.

Idon't think it is a thing of the past. I really think that rudeness just gets noticed more. I worked as a volunteer for years with youth groups working with children as young as 5 and as "old" as 18. Most of them were well mannered and polite and wanted to do the right thing. As a school teacher I found the majority of the children I taught were well mannered. It seems the not so nice ones get the attention. Squeeky wheel gets the grease?
Great use of 'I'. We do notice too many rude people..always in a hurry. Take time to be kind!
Integrity has been something I've always endeavored to emulate.
It is here to stay. I think the majority of people are honest, act decent towards each other and want to get along. Wish the politicians would follow our lead! ~wheresweaver

It's my opinion that there is just as much integrity in the general population as there ever was.
I think the rude obnoxious people are just heard more - just turn on any talk radio station!
boy I am so ambivalent on this one. Think basic integrity is still there and is different than rudeness. Afraid I see so much rudeness in public anymore, cant tell you how many times I've almost had to climb a store shelf to get out of the way of someone that thought they were the only one in store, or hear them on the phone talking about the puss the doctor had to lance, kids almost knocking people down in the restaurant as the play tag. That is one of the reasons I give out the good kid quarter at the restaurant to polite mannerly children...because the rude and rowdy ones get the attention, I want to reinforce the good kids get attention too. and the good kids...they are good because of the parents, I see it time after time, parents instilling good behavior and manners.
